Dawn Sagrillo’s enduring dedication to the specialty of plastic surgical nursing has driven her passion for nonsurgical aesthetics. She received her bachelor of science in nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1987 and has spent more than 25 years in both plastic surgery and aesthetic medicine, focusing on research, education, and clinical practice. Dawn also earned a master of science in nursing from Walden University and is a certified adult-gerontology nurse practitioner. She is nationally board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
After a decade-long tenure with the Medical College of Wisconsin, Department of Plastic Surgery, she partnered with a nationally recognized plastic surgeon and played an integral role in establishing a successful private aesthetic surgery practice. In 2011, she established ReFresh Aesthetic Center™ and serves as its clinical director, nurse practitioner, and certified aesthetic nurse specialist. She practices collaboratively with her team of medical professionals, including a plastic surgeon, nurse practitioners, nurses, and aestheticians to provide nonsurgical aesthetic services in a safe, caring, and comfortable environment.
As a certified plastic surgical nurse (CPSN) for the past 25 years and a certified aesthetic nurse specialist (CANS) since 2013, Dawn Sagrillo recognizes the value of specialty training. Her devotion to ongoing education led to her involvement for more than a decade as vice president and clinical instructor with Aesthetic Advancements, Institute (AAI), the internationally recognized leader in continuing medical education in aesthetics. She also served as president of Ideal Esthetic Educators (IEE), a company that works with practitioners and industry manufacturers to provide hands-on aesthetic training and education. Dawn Sagrillo is considered one of the pioneers in providing aesthetic injectable education, having trained thousands of practitioners throughout the United States.
Dawn Sagrillo has served on nearly 20 different committees and professional boards throughout her career. She has been actively involved in the International Society for Plastic and Aesthetic Nurses (ISPAN), the Plastic Surgical Nursing Certification Board (PSNCB), and the Plastic Surgical Nursing (PSN) Journal Editorial Board for many years. She was part of the founding committee that developed the Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialist (CANS) national certification examination. She has published more than 50 articles and is sought after for community speaking engagements as well as peer-to-peer presentations at national industry meetings.
